Monochrome Lookbook: How to Style Neutral Colors

1. Use different shades
By definition, monochromatic means sticking to one color wave, but you don’t necessarily have to wear the same shade from head to toe. Switch up the look by adding different neutral tones and temperatures throughout the look. For instance, a light grey blazer pairs perfectly with dark grey pants. Furthermore, a rose-hued jacket works well with a pink dress.

2. Incorporate texture to the look
One of the most appealing ways to change up a single-color palette is with texture, which can add visual depth to an outfit. Add contrasting colors and tones to the look by layering a variety of fabrics such as leather, velvet, silk, suede, and even denim.

3. Accessorize
Don’t forget the power of accessorizing a look. Adding a pop of color or metal elements to one-tone outfits is key. Breakup one-tone combinations with a belt, enhance a dress with a fedora, and add the same color purse to a suit.

4. Add patterns
I love an animal print!!!! It screams giving. Add patterns and marry monochromatic outfits with patterns such as stripes, polka dots, etc. Choose one statement design and build the rest of your one-hued look around it. Whether you opt for snakeskin or stripes, leopard print or an abstract design, a touch of pattern goes a very long way.
